The SHAWL Program

An Indigenous-based health and wellness coaching program that leads you on a journey to long-lasting health that improves your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

We focus on foundational wellness practices that strengthen kinship connections, enhance community care, create sustainable habit change, and deepen our connection to Mother Earth and natural cycles of life so we can feel our very best for years to come.

My vision:

  • To help you go from feeling tired, overwhelmed, drained, and isolated to feeling energized, clear-minded, replenished, and connected to community.
  • To guide you in establishing and maintaining specific, consistent, and sustainable habits that lead to increased vitality, longevity, and quality of life.
  • To significantly reduce the disproportionate levels of diabetes, obesity, mental health impacts, and reduced life expectancy among Indigenous people and our communities. I want more for us than to just survive. I want to see us THRIVE. I want to see our people living big, beautiful, healthy lives that are vibrant, fun, and fulfilling.

Why "SHAWL"? Because we're creating a movement of "Sustainable Health And Wellness Leaders" (SHAWL): people who are ready to lead the way in health and healing and create a ripple effect in our communities. Will you join us?

The SHAWL Program

An Indigenous-based health and wellness coaching program that leads you on a journey to long-lasting health that improves your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being for years to come!

We focus on foundational wellness practices that strengthen kinship connections, enhance community care, create sustainable habit change, and deepen our connection to Mother Earth and the natural cycles of life so we can feel our very best at every stage of life.

This is about establishing the habit of consistency, focusing on the wellness practices that are foundational to long-term health and healing, and creating a community that provides long-lasting support on your journey.

You want a wellness program that FEELS REALLY GOOD, that is nourishing and nurturing for your body, mind, heart, and soul. This isn’t about grinding out intense workouts (unless you love to, of course!), strict meals plans that leave you feeling hungry and deprived, a tight timeline that stresses you out, or feeling like you’re doing this alone. NO. There is no “boot camp” energy here.

This is more, “your favourite auntie” type of energy: kind and loving, fun, and sometimes firm. This is about loving yourself, treating yourself with kindness, compassion, grace, and honesty. It’s about showing up for yourself in a way that honours the gift of life, your body, where you’re currently at, and what you most need right now. This is about setting the foundation for long-term success, one kind and loving step at a time.

In the SHAWL Program we use my signature WRAP Method. These are 8 principles that provide the wellness practices that will increase your health and well-being in a steady, consistent, sustainable pace so that they simply become a way of life. The 8 principles of WRAP are: Water and Walking, Real Food and Rest, Attitude and Alignment, Pleasure and Perseverance.

By incorporating the WRAP principles, you will:

  • Reduce stress and tension in your body
  • Increase relaxation (by engaging the parasympathetic nervous response)
  • Enjoy delicious, healthy foods and experiment with new recipes
  • Incorporate more Indigenous foods into your diet
  • Improve sleep and quality of rest
  • Deepen your connection to yourself and others, which can increase your sense of belonging
  • Begin to discover what you truly love and do more things that bring you joy
  • Set a healthy example for your family, friends and community
  • Inspire and encourage others on their wellness journey

Long-term changes as a result, can include:

  • Increasing longevity and improved quality of life
  • Reduced risk of chronic diseases and illnesses related to stress
  • Increased feelings of connection, which can help reduce a sense of loneliness and isolation
  • Increased energy and vitality
  • Better mood and increased ability to handle challenges in life

I’ve set up this program to focus on the wellness basics you can return to again and again no matter what happens in life to throw you off-track. Life happens, we face challenges and hardships, we go through different phases and stages of life. It’s not about waiting for the perfect conditions to improve your health and well-being. It’s about focusing on wellness practices that will support you now and for years to come.
